Rússia - Les muntanyes de Sayan, una serralada  de les més grans, hi ha llac profund i més antic al planeta - El Llac Baikal. Les muntanyes de Sayan tenen  imponents pics i llacs freds al sud-oest del llac Baikal, donen lloc als afluents que s'uneixen per convertir-se en un dels grans rius de Sibèria, el riu Yenisei, que flueix cap al nord a més de 2000 quilòmetres cap a l'Oceà Àrtic. Una de les fonts d'una de les artèries d'aigua més gran del món situat a la part alta en les muntanyes de Sayan  es diu:  riu Kitoy.
