El riu Stikine/Stikine river

El nom del riu prové del Tlingit , Shtax 'Heen , que vol dir  "riu ennuvolat  ", o alternativament" aigües amargues  ", però, diuen que el seu significat Tlingit és "gran riu" o "el definitiu,  gran riu"

 El riu Stikine / s t ɪ k i n / és un riu, històricament també el riu Stickeen , d'aproximadament 610 quilòmetres (379 milles) de llarg,  al nord-oest de la Columbia Britànica a Canadà i al sud-est de Alaska al Estats Units . Considerat com un dels últims grans rius veritablement salvatges a la Columbia Britànica , drena una accidentada, en gran part verge, zona est de les muntanyes de la costa , tallant un curs ràpid que flueix a través de les muntanyes en profunditat  per desembocar en Eastern Passage , just al nord de la ciutat de Wrangell , que està situat a l'extrem nord de l'illa de Wrangell al arxipèlag d'Alexander .

 The name comes from the River Tlingit, Shtax 'Heen, which means "river cloudy" or alternately "bitter waters", but say their Tlingit meaning "big river" or "the final great river"    The Stikine River / st kin ɪ / is a river, historically also Stickeen River, about 610 kilometers (379 miles) long, in northwestern British Columbia in Canada and Southeast Alaska to the United States . Considered one of the last great wild rivers truly British Columbia, drains a rugged, largely untouched, east of the mountains to the coast, cutting a fast course that flows through the mountains to cross resulted in Eastern Passage just north of the city of Wrangell, which is located at the northern end of the island of the archipelago of Wrangell Alexander.
